Who we are
RentEasy is a small, personally run holiday-let brokerage: we introduce people looking for a holiday home (“renters”) to owners letting their home out (“hosts”), and broker the arrangement between them. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this site, why, and your rights over it.
For anything in this policy, contact us at info@renteasy.homes.
What we collect and why
We collect only what the service needs:
- Account details— your email address (verified by Google sign-in or an emailed sign-in link) and the name you give us, so we can sign you in and know who we’re talking to.
- Saved searches — the areas, dates, party size and budget you ask us to look for, so Sorele can match you with homes.
- Host submissions — details of a property you ask us to let (address, capacity, description, photos) and your contact details, so we can list and broker it.
- Listing enquiries — the name, contact details and message you send when you ask about a home, so we can reply.
- Booking records — the offers, bookings and fees involved in arranging a stay.
We don’t collect anything in the background: no advertising trackers, no profiling, no data brokers.
Our lawful basis
We process this information to provide the brokering service you ask for (performance of a contract, or steps you request before one) and in our legitimate interest of running a small brokerage — replying to enquiries, keeping records of arrangements we brokered, and protecting the service from abuse.
Who processes it for us
Your information is stored and processed by a small set of service providers acting on our instructions: Vercel (website hosting), Neon (database), Resend (transactional email), Upstash (abuse-rate counters), Google (only if you choose “Continue with Google”), and Sentry (error monitoring — technical error reports, not browsing profiles). We don’t sell or share your information with anyone else, except the counterparty of a booking (a host learns a renter’s details, and vice versa, once a stay is confirmed — that exchange is the service).
How long we keep it
Account and booking records are kept while your account is active and for as long as we need them to evidence the arrangements we brokered. Saved searches and enquiries are kept while they’re being worked and removed when no longer needed. Ask us and we’ll tell you exactly what we hold about you.
Cookies
We set only first-party cookies that the site needs to work: a sign-in session cookie (essential), an operator sign-in cookie for our own staff (essential), and a small preference cookie remembering your viewport choice. We set no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and our traffic measurement (Vercel Analytics) is cookieless. Because none of these are optional extras, there’s no cookie banner to click through.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict our use of it, and ask for it in a portable form. Contact us and we’ll act on it promptly. If you’re unhappy with how we handle your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
